Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center to host Virtual 10-year Anniversary Celebration

Posted

The Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center, located on the campus of East Georgia State College, will celebrate its 10th anniversary on April 30.  EGSC will host a Virtual Celebration to mark the special occasion.  Everyone is asked to view EGSC’s special page at http://www.ega.edu/Fulford-Center-10th-Anniversary and all social media accounts of EGSC starting at noon on April 30 to view photos and a video to remember and celebrate the ten years. The Virtual Celebration will kick off at noon with a photo slideshow. Each hour, a photo and memory will be shared leading up to the main celebration video at 5 p.m.

The Center, a gift donated by Mr. and Mrs. A. D. “Pete” Correll, was named to honor the memory of Ada Lee’s mother, Mrs. Sudie A. Fulford.  “Miss Sudie” was a well-respected and beloved teacher in Emanuel County for over 30 years.  Her love for her students was surpassed only by her love of her family.

Open to all residents of Emanuel County and the surrounding area, the learning center was built to provide an environment where learning opportunities take place and community relationships are enriched. An aspect of the Fulford Center mission is to develop individual capacity and improve the quality of life for Swainsboro and Emanuel County, and the goals of the Center include education, civic engagement, and hospitality.

Over the past 10 years, the Fulford Center has served as a bridge between EGSC and the community and has welcomed over 75,000 visitors. The dome ceiling in the great room serves as a planetarium and offers 19 different planetarium shows which have been provided to thousands of students over the 10 years. In addition, 58 summer camps have been offered to local students. The Center classrooms serve as a venue for tutoring, workshops, trainings and small conferences.

We encourage individuals to join us for this Virtual Celebration as community members, students and EGSC friends share their Fulford Center experience and why the Center has been such an important addition to our community. Visit http://www.ega.edu/Fulford-Center-10th-Anniversary
