Members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council from Swainsboro Middle School, Swainsboro High School, and Emanuel County Institute gathered for their final meeting concluding a year of collaboration, leadership development, and student advocacy.

All year, council members connected students and district leadership by sharing what works and identifying areas for improvement. At the final meeting, students focused on developing solutions.

Students formed small groups for a 'Shark Tank' style challenge to tackle issues like academics, safety, communication, and student life. Each group proposed both a quick fix and a long-term solution. “My favorite part was our collaboration. We worked in separate groups, then united to solve real day-to-day issues,” said Drake Clements from SMS.

The meeting ended with a discussion of leadership scenarios. Students reflected on real situations, considering how to lead through daily actions. Discussing topics like inclusion, event participation, and safety reinforced the value of leading by example. “Being part of the advisory council has allowed me to be surrounded by driven, inspiring individuals who share similar goals. Overall, it was a great experience,” said Davis Johnson from ECI.

As the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council concludes its work for the year, the influence of student voices is evident. Through discussion, collaboration, and leadership, these students have shaped conversations guiding Emanuel County Schools “My experience on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council has been meaningful and eye-opening,” said Gracie Beneteau from SHS. “It gave me the opportunity to represent my peers and contribute to conversations that impact students’ education and well-being. I felt valued knowing that my opinions were heard and considered.”

Dr. Denise Warnock reflected on the council’s work and student leadership. "These students excelled in representing their schools and proposing constructive solutions. Their insight will guide us as we strive to provide the best experience for every Emanuel County Schools student."
