Look what's almost finished!

Commemorative DVD for state champs closing in on finalization, bringing distribution to students and public one step closer

Posted

Swainsboro High School picked up its first state basketball title in over a decade back in March. After the win, The Blade set out to put together a magazine and commemorative DVD. These two products were to be distributed together. The magazine printed back in May, but the DVD has yet to be finalized. However, The Blade is closer than ever today to having the final component of the project finished. The final cut of the DVD is expected to be delivered this week and the duplication process is set to begin immediately thereafter.

Given The Blade’s long-running history with print products, the magazine was an easier, quicker task to complete. Although the company has been experimenting more and more with digital content in the last few months, this commemorative DVD was The Blade’s first attempt at a video product of this magnitude. Thus, the process became lengthier than anticipated—then COVID-19 happened, thereby extending the wait time.

Nonetheless, with the final cut expected any day now and the duplication process ready to begin after that, now is the time to provide details regarding the distribution plan.

The Blade will distribute the magazines and DVDs to team members first. Copies for coaches and players will be available at The Blade, located at 416 W. Moring Street, Swainsboro, on Friday, July 24.

Next in line for distribution will be Swainsboro’s Class of 2020 at graduation on Saturday, July 25.

Swainsboro freshmen, sophomores, and juniors for the 2019-2020 school year will receive their magazines and DVDs when they report to their advisors to pick up their 2020-2021 schedules.

Because of a duplication limit for the DVDs, each student will be given a single copy. A set quantity of magazines was ordered back in May; that number accounts for one magazine per student as well as extras for the public. Likewise, a set amount of extra DVDs has been ordered for the general public. These DVDs will be available starting Monday, July 27, at The Blade’s office.

Magazines are free and will be available while supplies last. Student DVDs will be free as well. However, the public’s cost per DVD is $10. Pre-orders are not accepted. These will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
