Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported…

August 1

Officers were dispatched to S. Circle Dr. in reference to GSP being involved in a chase. Officer conducted a search of the vehicle to find marijuana and scales. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer met with complainant who stated he reviewed his camera footage from his mother’s residence on William Roundtree St. and observed a male subject walk under the carport and look in a cabinet and open a toolbox on a truck. C/p advised he checked with the neighbor and she identified the suspect.

Officer ran the tag on a vehicle that came back suspended, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer made contact with the driver and recognized him and the passenger from a traffic stop in another vehicle several days prior. Officer asked the driver for her license and stated she did not have them on her and she left them at home and stated she just bought the car and had until Friday to get a tag. Officer observed a brillo pad in floorboard and observed the passenger shaking and appeared very nervous. Officer then asked the driver if he could search the vehicle and she complied. During the search, two pipes were found and the passenger advised they were his and he smoked crack earlier.

Officer met with complainant at SPD in reference to identity fraud. C/p reported that her sister/victim has been on disability since 2003 and has not filed a tax return since then and on 7/27, she received a letter from the IRS verifying that the victim filed a 2022 tax return. C/p believes her niece is the suspect due to her using family member’s information and bank cards without authorization.

August 2

Officer met with complainant in reference to a damaged vehicle. C/p stated he was hosting a gathering at his residence on Happiness Dr. and someone hit the front driver door of his vehicle and it will not open completely.

Officer took a call in reference to harassment. Victim stated her co-worker went to her residence on Lambs Bridge Rd. and knocked on her door and takes all her hours at work and makes her leave.

Officer was dispatched to Lambs Bridge Rd. in reference to an incident that occurred on Industrial Way. 911 informed officers that a male subject jumped in front of complainant’s vehicle while she was driving and grabbed her mirror. Officer observed the male subject lying on the shoulder of the road and he complained of knee, back and neck pain. He stated his ex-girlfriend tried to run him over and dragged him down the road, then slammed on brakes to break his grip on the mirror. He stated he then began to walk before lying down and calling for EMS. He was transported to EMC ER. Officer then went to Lambs Bridge Rd. to speak with complainant who reported she was leaving work and her ex-boyfriend jumped in front of her vehicle and she swerved to avoid striking him and he grabbed her mirror and she accelerated to get away from him. Upon speaking with the male subject again at EMC, he stated he was walking on the side of the road headed to work when he saw his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle approaching him and began to steer towards him. He stated she cracked her window about an inch and told him to get in and she would take him to work and he told her no because his bond condition prohibits him from being around her. He then stated that the vehicle did not stop moving during the conversation and his ex-girlfriend accelerated and began to steer the car toward him even more and he ran in front of the car and got caught on the mirror and was dragged down the road. Officer spoke with someone at American Door who confirmed the male subject works for him and was assigned to be at work between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. so he had a legitimate reason to be on Industrial Way.

911 dispatched officers to Citi Trend in reference to a m ale subject walking out without paying.

Officers were dispatched to Mary Ann St. in reference to complainant’s husband trying to take her vehicle. Officers met with c/p who stated she went to see a friend and her husband went to the residence and tried to take her vehicle and made her give him the keys. C/p stated she does not want to go back home because her husband is abusive towards her and she was in fear of her life. The husband arrived and was attempting to get in the vehicle. C/p stated she’s pregnant and if he takes her car, she won’t be able to go to the doctor. Officer spoke with the offender who stated they are married but are getting a divorce and his wife has mental issues and he has been thinking about getting her admitted. He also stated he was not leaving her the vehicle because it is his and she was not going to be putting miles on it running the roads. He refused the leave the vehicle and left.

Officers was dispatched to New St. in reference to a male subject hitting a dog.

Officers were dispatched to New St. in reference to complainant stating offender took his car keys.

August 3

Officer observed a vehicle with no working tag lights, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Offender provided his driver license and upon running them, they came back suspended. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer observed a vehicle with no working taillights, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Offender advised he did not have a license and provided his name and DOB. While speaking with the driver, officer observed his eyes were glassy and sleepy looking and he could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Officer ran the driver’s info and learned they are suspended and went back to the vehicle and advised the driver to step out of the vehicle. Officer then asked if he would take a field sobriety and he stated yes. The PBT showed positive for alcohol and offender was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail for DUI.

Officers responded to L&B’s to a burglary in progress. Complainant was on scene and advised she didn’t know if the offender got out of the building because he disabled the camera by the back door. After entering the building, it was discovered that the offender was no longer there. Video footage showed offender’s clothing and skin but could not be identified due to wearing a ski mask.

Officer responded to Moreland Ave. in reference toa stolen air conditioner. Complainant stated the window unit in a storage shed was gone and the workers who lease the property noticed it missing. C/p advised there are no cameras facing the building but someone saw two vehicles with six occupants in it in the area on his camera around 8:30 p.m. C/p stated the gate is supposed to be shut at night and he does not know how someone would get on the property.

Officers took a report from complainant who stated while he was cutting his grass, he found a phone in the ditch.

Officer ran the tag on a vehicle to find it had suspended registration and the driver had suspended license, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, officer advised the driver that her license is suspended and she fumbled around looking for them and stated she was unaware they are suspended. During the stop, the vehicle was searched and a small marijuana joint, glass bong, marijuana, and a medicine bottle with a clear bag inside it tied in a knot with meth was located. The driver and passenger were transported to EmCo Jail.

August 4

Officer performed a traffic stop on Hwy 56 North for speeding.
