July 7

Officer responded to King Circle in reference to a cut gas line. Complainant stated that she hired offender to work on her kitchen and a gas line was cut while they were working.

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had no insurance. The driver of the vehicle had just bought insurance two days prior, but a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. Less than 1 oz of marijuana was found along with two firearms. Offender was charged with possession of marijuana less than 1 oz.

911 dispatched officers to Family Dollar for an unresponsive child. Upon arrival contact was made with a 13-year-old who was highly intoxicated but alert and responsive. EMS transported the child to Emanuel Medical Center. While on scene further field interviews revealed that this call started when a repo truck attempted to repo a vehicle. The driver stated that he was blocked in by trucks and rear ended by another vehicle. Driver stated that the repo truck then backed under and began to tow the car. The passenger was worried about her 13-year-old brother who was picked up from Dublin due to him being intoxicated. The 13-year-old was turned over to his legal guardian.

July 8

Officers took a walk through at a business located on South Main Street. Upon entrance, the scent of marijuana was coming from the door, but the door was locked. Th owner answered the locked door and walked outside to speak. He was advised that there were several people parked but no one was found. Offender stated that it was a small crowd. He complied to the walkthrough. There appeared to be a table with chairs with a money box beside the door. There were 6-10 people around a table holding a card game and drinking. Offender was advised that he could not have alcohol on the premises due to no license. He was advised he was shut down until he spoke to the chief.

911 advised that Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office had an offender that had warrants out for 3 counts of identity theft.

Officer was conducting spec detection on Kite Road when he noticed a vehicle going 60 mph in a 35 MPH zone. A traffic stop was conducted, and the vehicle also came back with no insurance.

Office made contact with c/p in reference to a report. She advised that she and offender got into a verbal dispute over trash bags where offender allegedly shouted, “I will kill you”. C/p advised that she did not fear for her life and knew that this was just an outburst. Offender denied threatening anyone. While speaking with offender, the care home requested an ambulance to come to the location for transport. He was not injured and did not want to cause harm to himself or anyone else. He advised that he did not want to go to the hospital, and he was okay.

Officer was dispatched to Thompson Street in reference to a dog at large. Upon arrival officer met with victim who stated that the offender had two pitfall dogs who chased his daughters inside the house.

Officer was patrolling and ran a tag, and the registered driver had an invalid license. Officer initiated a traffic stop and detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Offender was arrested for having an invalid license.

July 9

Officer was dispatched to the Moose Club in reference to individuals fighting in the parking lot. The victim stated that the offender had come up to her and grabbed her several times and pushed her. She also stated that he choked her but there were no visible neck marks at the time. The offender was gone upon arrival, but the victim was advised of her rights to go see the magistrate judge.

Officer was dispatched to Gumlog Rd in reference to a dispute with juveniles. Officer was met by c/p who stated that her juvenile son was riding his scooter in the yard and another juvenile came up and pushed him down and took the scooter and brought it back a few minutes later. The mother of the offender came and spoke and told her son to leave the victim alone.

Officer responded to W Main Street for a power line in the road. C/p stated that he saw a big truck pull over to the side of the road and then heard a loud sound as if something had blown up. The big truck then left and turned onto US 1. The truck was unable to be found.

July 10

Officer was patrolling and was flagged down by a man in a truck. He advised that he had been approached by another man in Walmart with a police badge on his hip that read “Chief of Police Paine College”. He stated that the man asked him if he was a God loving man and then showed him a picture of a child on his phone and stated that that was his child. He asked for a monetary donation because the child has special needs. The man was unable to be located at this time. This is the second time in the past two weeks that this incident had occurred.

911 dispatched officers to Empire Expressway in reference to dogs attacking an employee. Animal control arrived on scene and was able to capture the dogs.

Officer was dispatched to SPD in reference to a report. Officer spoke to c/p upon arrival, and she stated that on July 4, her ex-boyfriend packed up all of his things and moved out of her residence. She stated that he also took her handgun and refused to give it back. She said that when she told offender she was gonna make a report he threatened to use the gun on her.

Officer responded to Project Street in reference to an unwanted person. C/p stated that when she arrived home for lunch the offender walked around from behind her apartment and began to approach her. When she saw him, she began walking towards housing authority employees and offender ran into the woods. He had already been advised to stay away from her residence.

Officers responded to Williams Street in reference to a caller stating that there were several individuals in his yard without his permission. Upon arrival there were 5 individuals on the porch and the two offenders were standing near the wall and the other three unknown individuals were at the front of the porch. The offenders attempted to flee but were caught with marijuana found on one of them.

July 11

911 dispatched officer to Norwood Avenue in reference to a female that kicked a door in and was destroying the house. The offender was found and could not breathe and asked for EMS for her blood pressure. She stated the victim was talking about her to people, so she drove to his house and allegedly pulled her hair and hit her, but there were no apparent marks. She was arrested and was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and a criminal trespass warning.

Officer contacted the c/p/victim in reference to a report of a fraudulent charge on his card.

Officer observed a vehicle traveling with a headlight out. The vehicle ran with no insurance a passenger was also observed holding an infant and there was no car seat to be found. The vehicle was towed.

911 dispatched officers to the Emanuel County Recreation department in reference to an EmCo Deputy Sheriff calling for assistance quickly. Upon arrival, officer observed a truck blocking the entrance and another car in front of it. While speaking with the victim, he stated that he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument over a cell phone to which she called her mother and told her that the victim had her cellphone. He told her that it was just under her pillow. Victim stated that when he attempted to get in his vehicle and leave, a truck blocked his lane of traffic. He knew the driver to be his girlfriend’s grandfather. The offender began to approach his vehicle and beat on the window. He then pulled the door open to the vehicle standing between the vehicle and the door and grabbed him. In attempt to remove himself from the situation, the victim put the vehicle in reverse and the door hit the offender causing him to fall. When this happened, the door was pushed back and got jammed causing damage of $500 or more. He then went and told his girlfriend that she needed to check on her grandfather, at this point law enforcement had arrived. While speaking with the victim, the offender’s daughter became irate and was attempting to get to the victim. Deputies advised her to calm down, but she refused and was placed in handcuffs and was charged with disorderly conduct. Due to the offender being airlifted, she was issued a citation and released. A witness gave the same statement as the victim.

July 12

Officer met with c/p at SPD in reference to a report. C/p advised that he had just over $300 deposited in his EBT card. He advised that a few days later he went to the office wondering why his benefits were not on his card and was advised that it already been used.

Officer responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. C/p advised that offender attempted to leave the store without paying for items adding up to $367.97. Offender was arrested and was issued a citation for shoplifting.

Officer responded to Mitchell Street in reference to a stolen/missing firearm. C/p reported that her children and grandchildren visited for the 4th of July and left the following Wednesday. She stated that she keeps it hidden in the house but had not seen it in days. She accused her ex-husband of taking it. The ex-husband stated that she always misplaces things and blames him for it.

Officers responded to Fowler Street in reference to a vehicle on fire. Officers assisted EmCo Fire with gathering information and blocking the road.

Officer responded to a call that came to SPD about a vehicle attempting to hit a government employee on Lakewood Drive. Officer spoke with the victim who stated that he was stopping traffic while he was working when a vehicle noticed him in the road and increased speed attempting to hit him. The victim gave the plate number.

Officers were dispatched to South Main Street in reference to an on-going investigation in which a mattress was purchased with a stolen credit card. Officer met offender and asked him for his license or ID, and he stated he did not have it on him. Offenders name and DOB was run, and it came back with a suspended license for child support. Offender was handcuffed and was arrested.
