November 21
Officer met with complainant at SPD where c/p stated her granddaughter was missing from the residence. C/p advised the offender is c/p’s son and took c/p’s vehicle and her granddaughter, and when he returned, her granddaughter was not with him, and offender would not tell c/p where she was. A verbal dispute took place before offender left the residence. Upon the granddaughter’s return to the residence, she was not physically injured and advised c/p that she was at a Hickory Trace residence and wasn’t doing nothing. C/p showed concern for the welfare of her granddaughter due to her mental handicap.
Officer was met at SPD by complainant who stated his vehicle was parked on Brown St. and an unknown person damaged it. There was a small dent and scrape on the top of the hood and left side and back right side of the vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to WalMart in reference to a call about a shoplifter that had left the premises. Complainant showed video footage of offender and officer recognized him. Offender was seen scanning items and as he went to pay, he was seen taking out his Medicaid card and inserting it into the machine. Offender waited a few minutes and took the card out of the machine, grabbed his bags and walked out of the store. The stolen merchandise totaled $36.46, and a receipt was provided.
Officer observed a vehicle with a broken taillight, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and asked the driver to step out of the vehicle. As the driver stepped out, officer observed a clear bag of marijuana in the driver’s door. Offender was detained and stated he knew it was for the marijuana and stated where it was at. Officer asked offender if that was all he had in the vehicle and he stated yes and was placed in the back of his patrol unit. While searching the vehicle, two more bags of marijuana were found. Offender was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer met with complainant at SPD to report offender got upset over some conversations that complainant had with other family members. C/p stated offender put on Facebook that she was going to “bust her in the ear”and c/p wanted to make a report in case something happens.
Officer was advised that a call was received from complainant wanting to file a report in reference to offender pointing a gun at him while at his business. C/p was advised he would have to go to SPD to make a report. When meeting c/p, he stated he has had offender’s vehicle for two years and offender called him and wanted to go to the shop and see his vehicle. C/p stated he picked offender up and drove him to the shop and noticed offender had a pistol on his side. C/p stated offender got upset because there had not been much progress on the vehicle since they had spoken two weeks ago and offender started cussing at him and getting in his face threatening him and told c/p he would kill him. C/p stated he then told offender they had to go and offender continued to cuss at him and bet on his dash, then pulled out the pistol and was waving it all around the vehicle and pointed it at him. C/p stated he ran up on the curb and stopped and told offender to get out of his truck, and he did, then he left offender. When speaking with offender, he stated he did not pull out a pistol but he and c/p got into an argument and c/p told him he deserved anything he did to him. Offender stated when c/p told him that, he felt like c/p was trying to get him to hit him. Offender stated he has already taken c/p to court over the vehicle and he was supposed to be completed with the vehicle the past Friday and if not, a warrant would be issued on him. He stated he told c/p to let him out of the vehicle and once he got out, he contacted his wife to pick him up. Officer spoke with offender’s wife who stated she picked him up and he did not have a gun. Offender stated c/p knows he was going back to the judge the following day and that’s why he was accusing him.
November 22
Officers were dispatched to DFCS in reference to a man needing to speak to an officer. Complainant stated he was there to get his food stamps but they stated his paper work wasn’t correct so he caused a scene in the office and was using vulgar language in front of children and staff. Offender was advised to contact the corporate office in reference to his food stamps and he stated he wasn’t leaving. Offender was given multiple chances to leave but he refused. Officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person as he refused to leave so he was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer was dispatched to SPD in reference to a walk-in report. Complainant stated she and her husband took their vehicle to Daniels Chevrolet in the beginning of October to be sold and about two weeks prior to this date, they went to pick it up because it wasn’t listed for sale as planned and the tag had been replaced with a Daniels dealership tag. C/p stated after communicating with an associate, the tag could not be recovered and was advised to get a report for a replacement tag.
Officer was dispatched to King Cir. In reference to a person going onto another person’s property. Complainant stated a suspicious person keeps going onto her property at night and somebody broke into her car but nothing was taken. C/p advised she believes she knows who the offender is and gave his name.
Officers responded to S. Green St in reference to a domestic dispute. Complainant stated while she was dropping off her child with its father/offender, an argument started that led offender pushing c/p to the ground. C/p stated offender has been threatening her and officer observed dirt on c/p’s pants. Offender stated c/p started the argument and went at him so he pushed her to create distance between them. C/p did not want to press charges but wanted to take the child with her so offender released the child to c/p.
Officer responded to WalMart to assist the Chief with a shoplifter. Complainant stated offender attempted to steal items within the store and was able to show video footage of offender concealing items in a personal bag. Offender was criminally trespassed from WalMart property for three years. Offender was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.
November 23
Complainant went to SPD to report that she was assaulted on her job. C/p stated the incident took place weeks prior and was an aggravated assault with possible camera footage on the store’s camera system. C/p stated she was involved with the male offender but when it was over, he became violent.
November 24
Officer spoke with complainant who stated she was visiting a friend at Jordan Estates and when she started to leave, she noticed someone had crashed into her vehicle, causing damages.
Officer was dispatched to E. Pine St. in reference to a burglary. Complainant stated someone entered the church through an unlocked window. C/p stated he found a Samsung tablet, loose change and keys to the outside building were missing.
Officer noticed a vehicle with a blue flashing light inside, at which time he attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Officer could hear the vehicle accelerate then turn down Jerome St. and saw it turn into a driveway and the driver exited the vehicle and started to walk away. Officer made contact with the driver and advised him of the reason for the stop and asked for his license. Offender stated he did not have any and he only had an ID. Officer ran the license number through GCIC to find they are revoked. Offender was placed under arrest ant transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer responded to W. Church St. for a burglary. Complainant stated someone entered through a window and her Chromebook laptop was missing. Officer noticed a chair placed under a window and c/p stated it was not there when she left.
Officer responded to Rentz St. for a female acting out. Complainant stated she wanted offender gone and criminally trespassed. After offender was asked to leave more than three times, she walked outside and started walking down the road. Offender was told by officers to stop walking away and come back three times, and did so, and officers could smell alcohol coming from her person. Offender was advised by officer that he needed to give her a criminal trespass notice and she started to walk away. Offender was handcuffed and became tense and started yelling and cussing. Officer started to put offender in the back seat of his unit and she started to pull and snatch away and continued to yell and cuss. Offender then made her body weight become dead weight and officers picked her up to get her in the unit and she would not have a seat so they placed her in the unit. Once inside, offender started kicking her legs and kicked the officer in the chest. While transporting offender to EmCo Jail, she was yelling, cussing and kicking the back seat of the unit. Once at the jail, offender started to fight with staff.
Officer met with complainant at WalMart in reference to c/p advising that after using the ATM inside and retrieving her receipt, she walked away from the ATM without getting the money that was dispensed. Video was available.
Officer met with complainant in reference to c/p advising someone entered the AA building by. Breaking a window. A window on the back side of the building was also broken. C/p advised a money box containing appx. $85-$100 was missing. C/p advised the repairs will cost appx. $1,400.
Officer was dispatched to Murphy’s Gas Station in reference to an employee being threatened by another employee’s spouse. Complainant was on the phone with the manager and advised that offender had been calling the day prior threatening him and he had called police. The manager stated offender had been to the station on Nov. 23 and threatened c/p.
November 25
Officer was dispatched to Bradford Inn in reference to a call about a female that had impersonated a guest to get a room key. The female subject entered the room of her ex and jumped on him. Offender had fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.
Officer spoke with complainant who stated he was parked in front of Verizon and a truck side swiped him as it was backing up.
Officer observed a vehicle go through an intersection without making a complete stop, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer made contact with the driver and noticed a bag of marijuana in his pocket and he stated it was just for personal use and he did not sell drugs. Officer asked for his license and was able to identify him, then asked him to exit the vehicle. Officer reached into offender’s shirt pocket and retrieved the bag then asked if that was all he had and he stated he had another bag in his other pocket. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
Officers responded to S. Main St. for an unwanted person knocking on doors. Contact was made with offender who was yelling and cussing about a male who was staying in a room. Offender stated he went to her house the night prior and she was told about it. Offender had an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her person and was asked if she drove and she stated yes. Complainant advised she wanted offender criminally trespassed. Another officer asked offender how she got there and she stated she walked. Offender was still talking very loud and started fussing with officer about her drinking and stated she knows her license are suspended. Offender was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.
November 26
Officer observed a vehicle fail to maintain its lane of traffic, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer made contact with the driver and immediately smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage and asked for the driver’s license and she stated she did not have them on her and gave her information. Officer asked offender how much she had to drink and she stated one. Offender advised she was not going to do a PBI because she had been drinking the day prior and it would show. Offender was told she was being placed under arrest for DUI and she stated she would do the PBI. The first several attempts, offender did not give a valid test and was given instructions on how to do the test several times before giving an accurate sample. Offender tested positive and was transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer responded to WalMart in reference to an irate customer that was arguing with an employee. Complainant stated offender and his girlfriend were approached by an employee because they were swapping sweatshirts in the store and offender started arguing saying they weren’t stealing anything. C/p stated he asked them to leave and offender started arguing and saying he couldn’t make them leave.
November 27
Officer was dispatched to WalMart in reference to a theft. Complainant advised offender was at the self-checkout and concealed seven items totaling $78.75. Offender stated he had cash and wanted to pay for the items. He was asked why he didn’t do that the begin with and video footage shows offender acting like he was ringing up the items but wasn’t. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer was dispatched to SPD in reference to a report where complainant stated on Nov. 4, she lost $400 at WalMart.
Officer was dispatched to Dollar General in reference to a shoplifter. While enroute, officers were notified that offender had left the store and was walking towards Pine St. Visual contact was made with offender and he was told to stop and began running into a wooded area. A perimeter was beginning to be set when officer observed offender in the back yard of a residence on N. Green St. Officer pursued offender and he ran back towards Pine St. and visual contact was lost on offender. Another officer made a visual on offender and began chasing him on foot and deployed his taser which was noneffective. Offender crossed N. Green St. when ECSO had a visual and began pursuing offender into a back yard on N. Green St. and deputy deployed his taser and offender went down. All items were retrieved that offender took from Dollar General. It was also discovered that offender had a warrant through JAG Probation. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer spoke with complainant who stated he owned a house on N. Main St. and his ex-girlfriend busted out some of the windows. When asked how he knew it was his ex, he stated they recently broke up and he blocked her the day prior, and she was mad. While walking through the house, there was three broken windows busted out and cement blocks by each one of them.
Officer observed a vehicle traveling 51 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer approached the vehicle and could smell an odor of marijuana coming from inside. Officer also observed marijuana in the driver’s lap and on his shirt, then asked for his license. The driver was identified and the driver and passenger was asked to exit the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, a hard case inside a book bag was found containing marijuana. The driver and passenger were read their rights and stated they understood them.; The passenger refused to talk but the driver stated he would. The driver stated the marijuana was not his and the passenger gave a spontaneous utterance stating it was not his and it belonged to a female. Due to neither claiming the marijuana, both were placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.
