Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported...
January 1, 2026
Shots were fired in the area of New Street and several concerned citizens called 911 attempting to help officers locate them. Officers rode the area and located several areas with large crowds, but shots would ring out on the next street over then on the other side of the city limits. No reports of injury or damaged property were reported.
Officer was dispatched to S Green St. in reference to child custody. Complainant stated her children’s father was supposed to have their two children home by 9 p.m. and he was never late so she was worried about the children. C/p advised she had been having trouble lately with the father in replying to texts and answering calls. Officer went to the father’s residence on Lake Luck Dr. to make contact with him.
Officers were dispatched to Sutton Dr. in reference to four-wheelers in the area making lots of noise.
Officer was dispatched to N Racetrack St. in reference to a dispute. Complainant stated she was trying to get her belongings, and the male subject would not let her leave.
Officer took a walk-in report where complainant stated her neighbor backed into her car. C/p stated they made a verbal agreement for offender to take care of the damages, but she has not returned to do so. Officer made contact with offender who advised she was not paying for the damages and told c/p that she was just going to cover damages to her own vehicle.
Officer observed a vehicle on Lambs Bridge Rd. rapidly acerating causing the engine to rev at an abnormally high RPM and the noise appeared intentionally directed toward officer’s patrol unit, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Later, officer received a call from a concerned citizen reporting the vehicle driving recklessly on S Main St. and was parked at Harmon Park. Officer made contact with the driver and issued citations.
Officer was dispatched to S Anderson Dr. in reference to a custody dispute. Complainant stated she was there to pick up her children, and the father would not release them to her. She also advised there was no court paperwork in reference to child custody. The children were not in distress, and both parents were advised to seek legal counsel for child custody.
Officer was dispatched to Hopkins St. in reference to a dispute. Complainant stated his father was drinking and they got into a verbal argument, and he tried to separate himself from his father, but he kept going to his door telling him to leave. C/p showed videos to officer, and he could hear the father telling c/p to leave and that he couldn’t handle him. C/p told officer he had an ankle monitor and was scared of doing anything and was afraid of getting in trouble. Officer spoke with the father and could smell alcohol coming from his person. He told officer that he did not wasn’t his son there anymore. Officer then called DJJ who advised it would be a good idea for c/p to relocate due to the circumstances. Officer transported c/p tohis uncle’s residence don Allen St. where he was allowed to stay the night.
January 2
Officer was dispatched to WalMart in reference to damage to property. Complainant stated the rear window of her vehicle was broken while at work.
Officer was dispatched to Waffle King in reference to a large crowd. Officers observed a large crowd inside and outside the restaurant and most of the individuals left due to police presence.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Oak St. in reference to shots fired. Officer made contact with one individual who stated someone in the neighborhood had been firing fireworks, but he never heard any shots.
Officer responded to Stevens Dr. in reference to a shed being broken into. Officers observed the point of entry to be a window where suspect pushed a window unit out. Further investigation revealed suspect also attempted to break into a shed down the road.
Officers were dispatched to Allen St. in reference to a dispute.
Officer observed a vehicle on S Main St. with no valid insurance, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Driver was issued a citation and the vehicle was towed.
Officer responded to N Green St. in reference to a male being knocked out in the roadway. Victim had a severe laceration above his right eye, and it was swollen shut. Victim advised who he was struck by and stated they have had issues for some time but was unsure why he assaulted him.
Complainant stated his ex-wife has been harassing him frequently since their divorce in September.
January 3
Officer observed a vehicle with no valid insurance, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Vehicle was towed and driver was issued a citation.
Officer responded to N Green St. in reference to a female reportedly having blood on her. Officer observed a male subject bleeding from his nose and mouth but did not observe any injuries to the female. Male subject advised that he and the female were arguing, and he advised her to leave him alone and she told him to leave and when he got up to leave, she hit him in the face with a bottle. The female did make a statement that she did hit him with the bottle and was arrested and transported to EmCo Jail. The male was transported to EMC ER.
Officers were dispatched to Latitude in reference to a fight or disturbance. Complainant stated she and her friend got into an argument that turned physical.
January 4
Officers were dispatched to Family Dollar in reference to a complaint of a man taking money from a woman’s wallet. Complainant stated she left her wallet in the buggy and when she returned to get it, she was advised her wallet was inside the store. C/p stated when she got it, over $500 was missing. Officer spoke with the male subject who stated he had taken the wallet inside and found the money. $560 was recovered and offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
January 5
Officer responded to S Main St. in reference to a stolen vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to S Main St. in reference to a hit and run. Complainant stated she exited the store to find damage to her bumper.
Officer was dispatched to Claxton Dr. in reference to a truck doing burnouts on the dirt road.
Officer responded to E Pine St. in reference to a theft. Complainant stated offender took $20 out of her vehicle.
January 6
Officer took a walk-in report where complainant stated his wallet was stolen from WalMart. C/p stated he laid it on top of the lottery machine and when he realized it, he went back and it was gone. Officer watched the video footage to see a male subject take the wallet and leave the store.
Officer was informed that offender had an arrest warrant and transported him to EmCo Jail.
Officer was informed that offender was having his probation revoked and transported him to EmCo Jail.
Officer was dispatched to Allen St. in reference to a dispute.
January 7
Officer was dispatched to W Church St. in reference to a 911 hangup call. Officer was advised that it was accidental and that everything was ok.
Officers responded to N Coleman St. in reference to a report of a vehicle damaged due to hot ash. Complainant stated his vehicle was parked for several days while he was out of town and observed white ash stuck to his truck.
Complainant stated her son left home and had not returned and had not answered his phone. C/p advised that Life360 showed he was on McKenzie Dr., but when she went there, she couldn’t get anyone to the door. Officer made contact with ECSO who made contact with the son and he contacted his mother.
Officer received a complaint from the Housing Authority Office of a vehicle parked on Gumlog Rd. that smelled like marijuana and had smoke “rolling” out of it. Officer recognized a minor from previous encounters who stated he had already smoked it. Offender was in possession of a Glock loaded with one in the chamber and 16 rounds in the magazine and marijuana stuffed in his sock. Offender was arrested and transported to SPD where DJJ and his legal guardian were notified.
Officers were dispatched to Curtis St. in reference to a domestic. Complainant stated offender backhanded her in the mouth and busted her lip. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
Officers were advised that EMS needed officers fast at MLK Blvd. EMS had a male subject in the truck trying to fight them and they advised he did not know what he was doing. EMS needed help getting him under control and to EMC, and officers held him down while transporting him. Officers helped EMC ER staff until they were able to give him something to calm him down.
Officer was contacted by 911 that they had a hit confirmation. 911 advised Lowndes Co. SO was out with offender and wanted to know if SPD wanted him. Officer advised 911 to place a hold on him.
Officer was dispatched to Harmon Park in reference to two vehicle doing donuts. Two offenders were place under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail and both vehicles were towed.
January 8
Officers responded to W Church St. in reference to EMS requesting assistance. EMS personnel stated offender was under the influence and refused to get up. Officers assisted EMS by helping get her back into the EMS truck and followed them to the ER. Later, officers were called back to the ER due to offender acting disruptive and harassing a nurse.
Officer responded to Abundance St. in reference to property damage.
Officers were dispatched to Mike’s Food Mart in reference to Med attempting to restrain a patient.
Officer responded to the Probation Office to assist with the transport of offender for an active arrest warrant for probation violation. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer was provided a Firearm Denial Notice where offender attempted to purchase a firearm.
Officers were dispatched to Spring Gardens in reference to a package being stolen form complainant’s porch.
Officer responded to N Main St. in reference to an alarm call. Officer observed the door had been broken into and the handles had been broken off.
Juvenile turned himself in for active warrants.
