October 23

Officer observed a vehicle traveling 53 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer spoke with the driver who stated he could not speak English and the passenger said they were traveling for work and got tired so offender started to drive. Driver only had an North Carolina ID card and no license. Offender was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.

Officers were dispatched to WalMart in reference to a shoplifting. Complainant stated offender had several items in her cart and proceeded through the last point of sale without paying for them. C/p stated he told offender she was shoplifting and needed to go to his office and she ok and c/p turned to open the door and offender left running. C/p stated the total amount of shoplifted items was $459.05.

Officer was dispatched to Green St. in reference to some stolen metal. Complainant stated he is having some repairs done and noticed someone had been there and tried to steal some copper tubing and tried to cut it out of another location.

Officers were dispatched to Murphy’s in reference to a male subject harassing the cashier and customers as they were getting gas. Officer observed the male subject walk up to a customer and the customer walked away from him. As the officer pulled up, offender began walking towards a customer’s vehicle and officer requested him to speak with him. As he walked up, officer was able to smell marijuana and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person and offender’s eyes were blood shot and his speech was very slurred and slow. Officer asked offender where the marijuana was and he attempted to walk off. Another officer walked behind offender to place him in handcuffs and he began to resist and attempted to pull his arms away. Offender’s hand was forced open and he had a roach in his hand with a very small amount of marijuana in it. Offender was then searched and turned towards officer and told him to grab his private part. When attempting to put offender in the back of the patrol unit, he refused so was forced in. Once the door was shut, offender began kicking the door. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer responded to W. Church St. in reference to a loud music complaint. Officer exited his vehicle and multiple dogs ran to the fence and started barking so officer got back in his unit and activated his blue lights and siren, then called out over his PA with no response. After about 20 mins. with no contact, officer left a notification of offender’s vehicle. He acquired a phone number and called but it went to voicemail so officer left a message.

Officer responded to Oak St. for damage to a vehicle. Complainant stated her niece backed into her vehicle and dented her door.

October 24

Officer observed a vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed than the listed speed limit, at which time he initiated a traffic stop.

Officer responded to Enmarket in reference to a shoplifter. Video showed offender conceal two hotdogs in his pockets and leave the store. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer observed a vehicle cross the center line and did not use a turn signal, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer asked the driver if she had been drinking and she stated no and could check her. Officer asked the passenger for his license and he stated he did not have a license and gave his name. Officer then asked both to step out of the vehicle. Officer knew the passenger and asked for K9 Joules to assist. When they arrived, the passenger’s legs started shaking and was asked why he was shaking. Crack cocaine, two crack rocks, a glass pipe and a brillo pad was found in the vehicle. Offender admitted everything was his and the driver did not use. The driver was released and offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer was dispatched to Gumlog Rd. in reference to a theft. Complainant stated someone went in her yard and stole a scooter and this is the third time this week someone has been in her yard and stole something.

October 25

Officers were dispatched to Gumlog Rd. for a domestic and the caller was refusing to provide any information. A short time later, 911 provided a clothing description and last name. Officer was already familiar with the couple from prior incidents. When officers arrived on scene, offender had already fled on foot. Contact was made with complainant who stated offender was calling her outside her name and making threats. C/p advised there was nothing physical but didn’t want to go into details on the incident.

October 26

Officer met with complainant at SPD in reference to c/p advising four small statues were stolen from the yard of her workplace and were placed on Facebook by a given name.

Officer noticed a vehicle with no tag and no drive-out tag, at which time he made a traffic stop. Officer made contact with the driver and asked for his license and explained the reason for the stop. The driver produced a bill of sale where he had just purchased the vehicle and the officer ran the VIN to verify insurance and it was found that the driver has suspended license. Officer advised the driver of his findings and placed him under arrest and transported him to EmCo Jail.

Officer was dispatched to Center St. in reference to a private property crash that happened at Dollar General. Complainant stated she was pulling into the parking lot and a vehicle backed out and hit her vehicle. C/p was able to provide the tag number of the vehicle.

Officer observed a vehicle with a headlight out, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer ran the driver’s license to find they are suspended. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
