Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported…

October 1

Officer observed a vehicle with a headlight out, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer made contact with driver and asked for his license to be informed that he did not have them with him. Officer got the driver’s name and DOB and ran his info to find that his license is suspended for failure to appear. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer observed a vehicle pass him with a brake light out, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, he observed him to have slurred speech and the officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Offender was searched and a small bag of marijuana was found in his pocket. Offender’s eyes were glazy and a small liquor bottle was found inside the vehicle and he was unbalanced and swaying. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer responded to Center St. in reference to a report of theft of lost or mislaid property. Complainant stated she went to Huddle House and left her purse in the bathroom and when she realized it, she went back and it was gone. C/p asked employees if anyone turned it in and they told her no. C/p advised her license, $10 and a pistol were in her purse.

Officer responded to New St. in reference to a report of assault and a theft of a cell phone. Complainant stated she and her boyfriend got into an argument and he grabbed her by the throat and slammed her on the ground then choked her until she lost consciousness. C/p stated when she came to, offender was walking around the yard then took off running with her cell phone. Offender was unable to be located.

October 2

Officer was dispatched to SPD in reference to a report. Complainant stated she was at WalMart and someone damaged her vehicle. Officer observed damage to the front bumper on the passenger side and advised he would review video footage.

Officer requested assistance on W. Main St. in front of the City Hall. Officer advised someone was parked in a handicap spot without a sticker or tag and after running offender’s info, it was discovered that he had revoked license, unregistered vehicle and no insurance. Offender was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer was dispatched to SPD in reference to a report. Complainant stated that while she was at Harmon Park, her wallet was taken from her vehicle by an unknown person.

Officer responded to AT&T in reference to a person threatening the manager. Complainant stated offender went inside to fix a problem with her cell phone and was advised that the manager needed to see her ID so it could be scanned. Offender showed a picture of her ID on her phone and was told that could not be accepted and offender became irate and began cussing and threatening the manager.

Officer observed a vehicle with a tinted tag cover obstructing the license plate, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer approached the vehicle and asked the driver for his license and insurance and offender stated he did not have his li cense on him but knew his license number. Officer ran the info to find that the driver’s license is suspended. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

October 3

Officer was dispatched to Neal St. in reference to complainant stating her vehicle was parked under her carport and she noticed it looked like her back glass was broken. C/p stated she went ahead and went to town and the entire back glass fell into the trunk. C/p stated her grass had been cut so it is possible that a rock hit it.

Officer met with complainant at SPD to report that her husband who she has been separated from for two years, went to Harvey’s and started talking to her and she has not talked to him since they separated. C/p stated all she said was hey and he continued to talk when she turned her back to him and since then, offender has been calling her job asking if she’s working and they wouldn’t’ tell him and he would then ask for her work schedule which they did not provide. C/p stated offender called again and was trying to get her fired by telling her supervisor that she was harassing and stalking him. Officer contacted offender and he stated c/p was following him in the store and trying to talk to him and he asked her when she was going to file for divorce. Offender then stated he did call Harvey’s because he is tired of her talking to his family and telling them things about him that isn’t true.

Officer was dispatched to SPD in reference to complainant stating he hit a pothole in the road that caused damage to his tires and rims. Officer observed the damage to the tire and rim.

October 4

Officers were dispatched to Friendly Way in reference to a male caller reporting that a female had cut the tires on his vehicle. Officer observed all four tires on the vehicle were flat and attempted to conduct an interview with the male while another officer attempted to conduct an interview with the female. Neither subject would answer questions about who damaged the vehicle owned by the victim so both were placed under arrest for interference with officer during an investigation.

Officers were following a vehicle and observed a brake light out, at which time they initiated a traffic stop. The driver was observed opening the center console and attempting to hide marijuana with her elbow. A pill bottle was also found inside the console containing three Tramadol. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer responded to The Budget Inn in reference to a report of a neighbor walking into c/p’s room making threats. C/p stated her neighbor walked in her room and threated to beat her and did not know why. Contact was made with the neighbor who stated c/p is always around his door and windows and knocked on her door but she wouldn’t answer so he pushed the door open and told her to stay away from his door and windows but did not go in her room or threaten her.

Officer was walking into Enmarket when a male subject made eye contact with him and fled the store. Officer advised 911 that the subject looked to be a known offender but wasn’t sure if he was out of jail. Officer then advised other officers of the suspect fleeing and was advised by people at the store that the male subject exited the door and took off running on Electric Dr. Officer spoke with the clerk who advised the subject’s vehicle was at a gas pump so the officer went to the vehicle and observed it unoccupied and still running. Officer then noticed the male subject coming back to Enmarket with his right hand in the right side of his waist band of his shorts. Officer advised units of his location and what he observed and when the male subject saw the officer standing by his vehicle, he took off running again. Officer got video footage from the clerk and confirmed the male subject was who he thought it was and ran his info to find he has active warrants for his arrest. The vehicle was towed and offender was not apprehended.

Officer was dispatched to W. Main St. in reference to a male subject walking around a building. Officers located an unsecured door and the building was cleared and everything appeared to be in normal order. Officers returned to the location later to find the male subject coming up the east side of the building. He provided his information and consented to a search of his backpack and advised he walked to the shelter looking for an electrical outlet to charge his phone. He stated he had been sleeping in a boat behind the church in town and was given permission by the preacher. He was advised the owner did not want him back on the property.

October 5

Officer were dispatched to The Budget Inn in reference to the owner requesting offenders to vacate the building. Contact was made with the individuals and officer observed a clear wrapper in offender’s hand that quickly disappeared. Officer asked offender what was in his hand and what it was and he stated it was a popsicle wrapper that he threw in the trash. Officers did not observe offender throw anything in the trash and searched his backpack to find a baggie with what appeared to be meth. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer was dispatched to Kwik Shop in reference to an irate customer. Upon arrival, the customer had left on a bicycle. Officer made contact with the offender who stated he got a cup of coffee and a sandwich and hadn’t paid for it yet and the cashier told him to leave. Complainant stated offender went in the store being rude and irate and was asked to leave and when he continued to be irate, she called 911. Offender was trespassed form the store for one year.

Officer observed a vehicle with a headlight out, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer asked the driver for her license to find they are suspended for an insurance charge. The driver was issued a warning for her headlight and served with a license suspension notification.

Officer responded to Norwood Ave. in reference to an unwanted female that was on the way to the residence. Officer observed two females arguing in the front yard and made contact with them. Officer asked what was going on and both accused the other of starting the fight. Officer then observed both females had scratch marks on their face and each time he asked what happened, one would interrupt and try to speak over the person being talked to. Complainant finally spoke up and advised who started the fight and wanted her to leave because she was not welcome there. Offender stated she had been living there and had personal items inside. C/p was advised of the eviction process and offender agreed to leave for the night.

Officer observed a vehicle traveling 50 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer made contact with the driver and could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and asked for her license. Officer asked how much he had to drink and she stated a couple cups of wine and began stating she was home. While she was talking, officer noticed her speech was slurred and slow and asked her to step out of the vehicle. Offender was unsteady on her feet and had to use her arms for balance and officer advised he needed her to do a field sobriety and she agreed. Offender’s eyes were bloodshot and glazed and tested positive for DUI. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
