SMS FBLA competes at region conference

The Swainsboro Middle School Future Business Leaders of America competed at the Region FBLA Leadership Conference on January 23. Students competed in various testing categories as well as public speaking competitions. Students could enter up to two different events and competed in 23 events for Region. The students had 17 top 5 winners out of the 23 events and some students had two top-five wins. The Swainsboro Middle School FBLA consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students with Mrs. Kristy Wimberly is the FBLA adviser. Students awarded: Jocelyn Williams - 1st Place, Business Concepts and 2nd Place, Public Speaking; Rose Polke - 3rd Place, Business Etiquette and 4th Place, Marketing Concepts; Dayna Foster - 1st Place, Business Etiquette and 3rd Place, Marketing Concepts; Karlie Bettencourtt - 2nd Place, Business Etiquette; Trevor Bragg - 3rd Place, Career Exploration; Stella Marsh - 1st Place, Career Exploration and 3rd Place, Intro to Business Communication; Sakiyna Sanders - 5th Place, Digital Citizenship; Stetson Sheppard - 2nd Place, Digital Citizenship and 2nd Place, Intro to Business Communication; Sara Taliedo - 3rd Place, Elevator Speech and 5th Place, Intro to Business Communication; Zaylee Braddy - 3rd Place, Social Media Concepts; and Maritza Martinez - 5th Place, FBLA Concepts.
