Skunk Brigade presents Travelin’ Trunk programs to America 250th DAR event

Skunk Brigade, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, traveled to Wrens to present their Travelin’ Trunk Revolutionary War program to the John Franklin Wren Chapter #3581, NSDAR, on Saturday, May 16, as part of the America 250th event. The event began at 11 a.m., attended by around 150 members of the DAR Chapter, SAR Chapters and citizens of Wrens. Steve Burke and Alton McCloud had their Travelin’ Trunks set up around 10 a.m. and answered questions about their Revolutionary War Ancestors, how they lived and fought, and all the items they had on their tables. The Brier Creek Artillery fired their two six-pounder cannons on the hour starting at 11 a.m. through 2 p.m., then three times each during the event program starting at 2 p.m. During the 2 p.m. dedication of the Wrens Fire Department Bell, "Greetings" was brought by the Mayor of Wrens David Hannah, GSS Honorary State Regent, 2022-2024 Mary Elizabeth Harrah and President Bill Tankersley, of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution. The Augusta Pipes and Drums gave a Patriotic Concert. Before the event, President Thomas Miller of the William Few Chapter in Augusta received the 50th skunk Hat from the Skunk Brigade.
