The Skunk Brigade traveled to Folkston Saturday, October 11, 2025, to attend the Annual Okefenokee Festival event. All Compatriots had an awesome day celebrating the festival.
The Skunk Brigade set up right next to the North/South railroad tracks at 11a.m. Saturday and showed off their four 6-pounder cannons all afternoon until late in the afternoon.
They fired each 5 times to honor those brave patriots that fought during the Revolutionary War for our freedoms that we have today, plus Bernard Martins cannon fired one more shot for a 21-gun salute.
Earlier in the day Lee Herron fired his cannon twice, 30 minutes apart to wake everyone up at the festival.
Those attending included Commander Steve Burke, Lee Herron, Don Bazemore, Dess Smith III, and Bernard Martin. They spent the night at the American Legion Post #130 in Folkston that night. HUZZAH!!!
