Swainsboro Tigers won both baseball games of their first-round series against Pelham and will advance to the second round. River Green pitched six scoreless innings, and Jackson Gray pitched the final inning for the Tigers in game one. The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning and broke it open with six in the bottom of the 5th. The final score from game one was Tigers 8, Pelham 0. The Tigers will face Metter in the second round on May 4 through May 5. Metter defeated Temple in the first round. The final score in game #1 was 4-0. Metter easily won the second game 12-0.

Metter is the #1 seed from region 3 and defending state champion. They won the state championship in 2021 and 2022. Metter has an overall record of 23-5. SHS’s record is 21-9. Swainsboro and Metter have played ECI. Metter won two games and lost one against ECI. Swainsboro played ECI twice and lost both games.

This is a good second round matchup. This should be an interesting series with the winner advancing to the elite 8.
