Two appears to be the magic number for Bleckley County and Swainsboro regarding spring sports. A few weeks ago, Bleckley County defeated Swainsboro by two runs to win the region baseball championship. Last week the Bleckley County boy's track team sneaked out a 2-point win over the Tigers track team to win the region Track championship. The region-deciding baseball game was played in Swainsboro, while the track meet was in Bleckley County.
The Swainsboro Lady Tigers finished in third place behind #1 Bleckley and #2 Dublin. The top four finishers in each event will advance to the sectionals, which will be held on May 6th at East Laurens High School. SHS boys and girls will be well-represented in the sectionals. The sectional winners will advance to the state championship on May 11-13.
Ty Adams and DeMello Jones continue their impressive historical SHS athletic career. Adams placed first in 3 individual events and helped the 4x100 relay team to a first-place finish. Jones placed first in two individual events and second in another and was also part of the 4x100 relay team. Others finishing in the top 4 that will represent the Tigers in the sectionals are:
