SHS receives donation highlighting Georgia’s Agricultural Heritage

Swainsboro High School announces the donation of two books that celebrate Georgia’s rich agricultural legacy. The titles, “The Georgia Farm Strike” and “Vidalia Onions,” were both written and donated by author Lee Lancaster.

These books provide insight into the people, events, and commodities that have shapedagriculture in Georgia. “The Georgia Farm Strike” examines a pivotal moment in the state’sagricultural and labor history, helping readers understand the challenges faced by farmersand the role of collective action. “Vidalia Onions” explores the story behind one of Georgia’s most iconic crops, highlighting its economic and cultural significance.

The donated books will serve as educational resources for students and communityreaders, supporting agricultural literacy and strengthening connections between historical events,signature commodities, and modern agriculture.
