The Swainsboro High School cheerleaders saw another record-breaking year in the number of youth participants attending the 2022 annual mini-cheer camp. On Saturday, August 20, a total of 113 mini campers spent the day with the SHS Varsity Cheerleaders learning stunts, cheers, chants, dances, jumps, motion technique and participating in other fun and engaging activities. The upcoming group of young recruits continues to grow each year with rising participation each summer. Last year’s camp brought in 82 mini-cheerleaders which was the largest turnout ever in Swainsboro Cheer history prior to this year's increase of 31 spirited mini-cheer campers. At this year's record-breaking event attendees enjoyed a pizza lunch and drinks and were presented with take-home souvenirs and certificates following their 2 p.m. performances for family and friends at pick-up time. SHS Varsity Cheer Coach Luci McNeely stated in response to this year’s turnout, “Thank you for all the support. It is overwhelming and such a blessing to be supported by the community in this way. Our future at Swainsboro Cheer is so bright! We can't wait to see this year’s group of participants cheer for our tigers on Friday, October 7, against Jefferson County at the pregame show!”
