Shirley Ann Andrews Gillis, age 78, left this earthly home for her heavenly home on Friday, April 10, 2026. A Celebration of Life was held Friday, April 17, at 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Apostolic Faith with Evangelist Alex Worthen officiating and Minister Guye Akins presiding.
Shirley was born September 26, 1947, in Swainsboro, to the late Lenzy and Mamie Rainey Andrews. She was a graduate of Swainsboro Elementary and High School. Shirley later married John Alton Gillis and they were the loves of each other’s lives. She was a devoted member of Church of Jesus and did not allow her illness to keep her from going to church and praising the Lord. Mrs. Gillis is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and five siblings.
Mrs. Gillis leaves to cherish her memories with her sons, Alton (Renee) Gillis Jr. of Lyons, Kenneth Gillis and Ricardo Gillis, both of Swainsboro; daughters, Cynthia (Alexander) Worthen, tiffany Gillis, both of Swainsboro, Catrina (Alexander) Grant of Metter and Kisha Gillis of Statesboro; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille (Ruben) Pace; close loving friend, Shon Corley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
