Seniors apply to college

Swainsboro High School seniors took part in the Georgia Apply to College (GAC) initiative Tuesday, November 15. The goal of GAC is to provide all Georgia high school seniors with the opportunity to apply to college with a focus on providing assistance to first generation and underrepresented students as they navigate the college application process. The first GAC event was held in 2008 and has grown from eight high schools participating to over 200 schools. In support of GAC, each year the Governor has issued a proclamation declaring November Georgia Apply to College Month. Many public, private, and technical colleges in Georgia waive their application fee during this month

SHS was fortunate to have representatives from Brewton Parker College, East Georgia State College, Paine College, and Southeastern Technical College on hand to assist students with their applications and to answer any questions about their institutions. Also present was a representative from Georgia Student Finance Commission to help students and parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
