For their April 13 garden club meeting, the Seedling Garden held its meeting at Noochee Farms located at 2412 Canoochee Road, Twin City. As the fourteen members gathered under the pecan trees with a view of the beautiful backyard "Garden Party Setting", they were greeted by owner, Dawn Braddy Arnette.

President, Kay Peacock thanked everyone for coming and gave a special thank you to Dawn for letting us hold our meeting at her beautiful farm. Due to the absence of Chaplain Paula Karrh, Kay gave the inspiration titled," Our Prayer", taken from the book of Garden Prayers published by National Council of State Garden Clubs. The prayer of thanksgiving and help to be eager to repay this gift through the learning of skills, through preservation of Thy bounties.

A short business session was held with the following committee reports presented by the following: Secretary's report by Cheryl Goodman and Treasurer's report by Wanda Ellis.

Both were approved as presented. Yonna Bailey, Yard of the month chairman, reported that Beth Smith's yard was given April's Yard of the Month. Nancy Lisenby, chairman of Emanuel County Nursing Home planting, reported that plants have been purchased, and members will gather at the nursing home on Thursday, April 16, to plant in the planters. Plants chosen were in red, white and blue to help celebrate the patriotism of the 250th birthday of our nation. Margo Riner made a motion on behalf of Ivy Terwilliger for the club to decorate the farm wagon located on the square. This will be part of celebrating the Pine Tree Festival held May 1- 2. The motion came from Ivy Terwilliger and was approved by the club. Our wagon will be decorated carrying out the theme, "Pine and Patriotism…Growing a Stronger Tomorrow."

Dawn Arnette, owner of Noochee Farms, presented a very interesting program giving the history of the farm. The following is the statement from her program; "A standout feature of Noochee Farms is its rapidly growing daylily garden, owned and operated by Richard and Dawn Arnette. The farm has quickly become a local gem since the Arnette’s established their daylily garden in 2022. In just a few short years, the couple has cultivated an impressive collection of more than 1,500 daylilies, representing approximately 800 unique varieties. Their dedication to the craft is evident not only in the diversity of blooms but also in their commitment to excellence as members of the American Daylily Society. Visitors to Noochee Farms are treated to a stunning display of color throughout the blooming season, with rows of carefully tended plants showcasing a wide range of shapes, sizes, and hues. Noochee Farms will also host its first daylily sale on June 6, 2026, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase select varieties and bring a piece of the garden home.

After the impressive resume of the Farm, members were served a delightful salad plate prepared by Dawn. Everyone enjoyed the homemade "Happy's Pimento Cheese”, (named in memory of Dawn's deceased husband), Corn Frito Salad, fresh fruit and homemade chocolate chip cookies. Lemonade and tea were served in glass pint jars, and the tables were beautifully decorated with fresh flowers in quart glass jars.

The meeting was adjourned with Kay thanking the club hostesses: Martha Cobb, Dianna Malone and Wanda Scarboro. Nancy Lisenby was the lucky winner of the raffle drawing. Then it was off to shop in the Noochee Farm Stand. This shop has a variety of great things to purchase which includes Dawn' s own homemade salads and sweets.
