SAR members March in the PTF

The Fall Line Continentals, GASSAR, consisting of SAR members from the Wiregrass, Brier Creek, Little River Chapters and the South Carolina Society President Ted Walker traveled to Swainsboro on Saturday, May 6, 2023, to march in the 76th Annual Pine Tree Festival. At 8 a.m. Alton McCloud's 6-pound Naval Cannon started the annual Knotty Pine 5K Race and then at 10:30 a.m. Alton fired his cannon to start the parade. The SAR members marched in the drizzling rain and were unable to keep their powder dry, but one of our members was able to fire his flintlock every 50 yards. After the parade, Steve Burke set up his Traveling Trunk down with the vendors for the fourth straight year. Steve had 4-8' tables with relics from the 1700's and skins from roadkill that showed what the frontiersman went through to survive in those days. Burke had plenty of help and he along with members talked with hundreds of spectators and thousands viewed his display. Besides President Ted Walker, members of the Little River Chapter (Thomson), Wiregrass Chapter (Swainsboro), and the Brier Creek Chapter (Sylvania), were also there.
