Mr. Robert Edward Edenfield, 81, of Stillmore, passed away on May 3, 2023. Funeral services were held Friday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Shady Baptist Church with Reverend Rusty Moore officiating, assisted by Reverend Jim Harrell. Interment followed in Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Mt. Shady Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were Jamie Edenfield, Dakota Edenfield, Chance Collins, Devin Edenfield, Zachary Edenfield and Andy Tapley.

Mr. Robert was born March 25,1942, in Emanuel County, to the late Robert Edward Edenfield Sr. and Ruth Rowland Edenfield. He grew up in Emanuel County where he was somehow able to convince Martha Nell Canady to marry him on January 29, 1960. Together they had five children, and lived their entire lives in Emanuel County. In his youth, Mr. Robert enjoyed jitter-bug dancing at the Record Hop and Moose Lodge with Martha Nell. Their famous footwork caused observers and other dancers to stop and watch their moves. He farmed most of his life in various parts of Emanuel County until he retired from the farm and went to work for Crider Foods. Mr. Robert’s love of growing things continued after retirement. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and taking care of chickens. Mr. Robert was a member of Mt. Shady Baptist Church. Mr. Edenfield is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberley Nan Edenfield; son, Christopher Edenfield; brother, Joe Edenfield; sisters, Jamie Ruth Edenfield, Barbara Slater, and Nancy Edenfield.

Mr. Edenfield is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Nell Edenfield of Stillmore; daughter, Lisa (Sam) Britt of Bluffton, S.C.; sons, Mitchell (Missy) Edenfield of Twin City and Shannon (Michelle) Edenfield of Metter; grandchildren, Samantha and Jonathan Britt, Dakota (Megan) Edenfield, Chance Collins, Devin Edenfield, Aaron LaPoint, Zachary Edenfield, and Alyson Edenfield; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins ,along with his sister-in-law supreme, Bonnie (Mike) Tapley.

The family would like to thank Pruitt Hospice for their care and a special thank you to Ms. Lauren Bedgood and Ms. “Aggravating” Valerie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Mr. Robert, or Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 630 Sandhill Road, Swainsboro, GA 30401.
