Emanuel County 4-H member Yasmin Rios has been selected as a delegate to attend the National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C., a prestigious opportunity reserved for top youth leaders from across the country.
The National 4-H Conference brings together outstanding 4-H members to meet with federal agencies, participate in leadership development, and discuss issues impacting youth and communities nationwide. As a delegate, Rios will collaborate with peers from across the United States to develop recommendations that help shape future 4-H programming and youth initiatives.
Rios, a senior at Swainsboro High School, has been an active member of Emanuel County 4-H for nine years, where she has demonstrated strong leadership, public speaking skills, and a commitment to community service. In addition to her local involvement, she has held leadership roles beyond Emanuel County, having been elected to serve on the Georgia 4-H State Board of Directors and the Southeast District Board of Directors, further showcasing her dedication to youth leadership at the state and district levels.
“Being selected as a National Conference delegate is a huge honor,” Rios said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to represent my community, share ideas with other youth leaders, and learn more about how young people can make a difference on a national level.”
During the conference, delegates will participate in roundtable discussions with representatives from agencies such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They will also engage in leadership workshops and advocacy activities focused on topics important to today’s youth.
Emanuel County 4-H leaders praised Rios for her dedication and work ethic. “Yasmin is a great example of what 4-H is all about—leadership, service, and personal growth,” said Emanuel County 4-H agent, Jakyn Tyson. “We are incredibly proud of her and know she will represent our county and state well.”
Rios’s selection highlights the positive impact of 4-H programs in developing confident, capable young leaders. In addition to attending the National 4-H Conference later this year in Washington, D.C., Yasmin has also earned the distinction of Georgia Master 4-H’er, one of the highest honors awarded in Georgia 4-H. This recognition reflects years of dedicated project work, leadership development, and meaningful service.
