Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. R. Lloyd Sherrod, age 82, of Midville, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Emanuel County Nursing Home. Funeral ser-vices were conducted Friday, September 29, at 11 a.m. in the Peebles- Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Carnley officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors. Burial followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bailey Joiner, Chris Carr, Gary Spence, Jim Sherrod, Carson Cross and Butch Frye.

Born in Swainsboro to Mr. Homer Lloyd and Nancy Bernice Sherrod Parrish, Mr. Sherrod was an only child. Lloyd worked as an Area Marketing Coordinator with Georgia Department of Agriculture for 20 plus years. He was best known for carving Georgia grown fruits and vege-tables into animals. Lloyd used this talent to teach children and young adults about Georgia grown produce and eating their fruits and veggies. He was a member of the Union Grove Methodist Church, an adult Sunday School teacher, and was a very talented singer. Mr. Sherrod is preceded in death by his parents; and his step-father, George Ivey Parrish.

Survivors include his wife of 42 plus years, Carol Brown Sherrod of Midville; sister and broth-er-in-law, Dana and Kent Larsen of Sarasota, FL; nieces and nephews, Christina Edenfield, Kristy Alcala and Jeremy Larsen.
