Poplar Springs Baptist reaches out

What a blessing to have attended the same church for the majority of the past 88 years! An additional blessing is when your church is near the county lines of Bulloch and Emanuel counties in Georgia, and you open your hearts at times when the Good Lord wants it that way! Let us tell you about the awakening of our church at Poplar Springs a few days ago. For years, a fine Brannen family comprised of parents, and a family consisting of a twin daughter and son, along with several other family members who sat a couple rows behind me. Of course, we were thrilled when we learned the twin college daughter planned to marry within a few weeks. So, it was our immediate desire for the church to arrange for a shower for her here at the church! After determining the date for the marriage shower at the church, the fun began. Our minister, Rev. Raymond Scott and his wife, Daphne, joined in with others in order to prepare the perfect marriage shower. Little did those working together know the capabilities of the newest member of the work group. Little did we know that we had so much talent knitted into a retired teacher that had recently purchased a home and joined our neighborhood by attending church with us. It was obvious very soon that Kathy Hugley, a retired schoolteacher, had many workable ideas! Ideas that actually added absolute beauty throughout the entire facility. So, while a half-dozen dedicated church ladies put the final touches on the most beautiful décor many of us had ever seen, we were greatly refreshed with the beauty that was now just a step away!

Welcome to Poplar Springs Baptist Church; come join us and we’ll make you feel welcome!
