Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mrs. Polly Drake Spearman, age 95, of Adrian, on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Pruitt Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Monday, February 27, at 11 a.m. in the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Allen and Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Braswell Cemetery near Adrian. The family received friends at Tomlinson Funeral Home Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers were Von Wilson, Matt Edwards, Steve Jones, and Wailand Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Hugh Foskey, Junior Plowman, Don Wilkes, George Frederick, and Brian Frederick

Mrs. Spearman was born July 1, 1927, in Emanuel County, to the late Ellie A. and Jennie Moore Drake. To her family and many friends, she was proudly known as Nanny Polly. Mrs. Spearman was married to the love of her life for 61 years. She was a hard-working woman yet, she enjoyed life to its fullest. Mrs. Spearman was a happy, fun and mischievous lady that had a lot of pride. Her children were honored and proud to call her "My Mom" because she was the kind of Mom that everyone wishes for. Mrs. Spearman was a member of Norristown Baptist Church. In addition to her duties as a farmer's wife, she retired from the dietary department at Emanuel Medical Center. The farm that she and her husband operated was featured in the September 1984 edition of National Geographic. Mrs. Spearman enjoyed doing circle word puzzles, watching game shows, RFDTV, and working in her flower beds. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spearman is preceded in death by her step-mother, Sara A. Drake; husband, J.M. Spearman; daughter, Alesia Spearman; grandchild, Carmie Bush; brother, Brooks Drake; and sister, Florette Frederick.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennie Spearman Hodges (Bobby); sons, Tyron Spearman (Sandra) and Bruce Spearman; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two special nieces; four special nephews; and her beloved fur baby, Molly.
