On June 6, 2026, officers with the Swainsboro Police Department heard shots fired around Central Street. While officers were patrolling the area, they heard other shots fired around Lucky Street. Officers traveled to the area of Lucky Street where bystanders were pointing in the direction of Lucky Street and Jerome Street. Officers spoke with a witness that advised a black male stopped between two houses on Lucky Street and fired a gun. Detectives obtained evidence at the location. While on scene, officers were notified of a gunshot victim at Emanuel Medical Center. The victim was transported to WellStar Hospital in Augusta and is expected the make a full recovery.
