Born in Dublin, Phillip was one of four children born to the late Joseph Dillon Braswell and Anne Lois Fort Braswell. He grew up in Adrian and was a graduate of Adrian High School class of 1970. After high school, Phillip attended the University of Georgia for two years. Growing up as the son of a farmer, it was a natural fit that he follow in his father’s footsteps and become a “tiller and custodian of the land”. Phillip knew no clock - he worked when there were things that needed to be done, no matter the hour or the day. He was successful in his efforts and toils growing cotton, tobacco, soybeans and peanuts. Phillip was passionate about his family, time spent with them and being able to provide for their needs. After his family came his Georgia Bulldogs. Phillip was not only a fan of his Alma Mater, but he loved all sports and was a walking encyclopedia recalling stats, winners, losers, NASCAR wrecks and many events from games and contests of years past. Phillip stayed abreast of local and national politics and was always ready to share his viewpoint on the present state of affairs. He enjoyed traveling, primarily when he could treat his family to destinations to include Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Cherokee, Las Vegas and all the parks associated with Disney World, especially the annual family Christmas to Disney trip. Phillip was a regular face at the weekly card games and birthday club events at the Swainsboro Country Club. He had been a member of the Keas United Methodist Church since childhood and had most recently attended Swainsboro United Methodist Church.

Mr. Braswell leaves behind his wife of twenty-five years, Carolyn Giles Braswell of Swainsboro; children, Tori Lariscy (Brad) of Pooler, Kristie Braswell of Wilmington Island, John Skipper of TX, and Mike Skipper of Swainsboro; bonus children, Matt Follis of Thunderbolt and Chelsea Price of Swainsboro; sister, Lana Faye Haywood of Wilmington, NC; two brothers, Joseph Eugene “Gene” Braswell (Patsy) of Dublin and David Kenneth Braswell of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Dylan Lomas, Harper Lariscy, Christa Braswell (Bradley), Kristi Skipper and Nikki Minton; two fur babies, Bandit and Buffy; and several nieces and nephews.
