Peter Kirk Sutherland, age 64, of Swainsboro, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his residence. Funeral services were held Friday, May 8, at 1 p.m. at Dellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Bedgood officiating. Interment followed at Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum in Swainsboro. Family received friends Thursday, May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Paul Lumley, Tommy Hadden, Brandon Josey, Nathan Rogers, Rick Schultz and Mike Newsome. Honorary pallbearers were Will Roberson and Andrew Coxwell.

Pete was born September 28, 1961, in Marietta, to the late Ray G. Sutherland and Sara Carstarphen Sutherland. He was very active in his community, whether in the school system, on the ballfield or on Santa’s sleigh. Pete enjoyed golf and baseball. In his younger years, he was always at the racetrack. Throughout his life, you could find him on the back of his Harley. On Saturdays, Pete would be with his wrestlers or jamming out by DJing with Saturn Sounds. He was a social butterfly who never met a stranger. At Christmas time, Pete was a special “gift” to children by helping Santa. He was a paramedic for 30 years. Pete was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church, and a member of the Kiwanis Club and Brotherhood at Dellwood Baptist Church. In what little spare time he had, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His favorite place to visit was St. Augustine Beach, Florida. Mr. Sutherland is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Sutherland.

Survivors include his wife of almost 38 years, Brenda Sutherland of Swainsboro; daughters, Kayla Vaughn (Jay) and Kelly Logan (Stone), both of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Jacob Sutherland, Kayden Sutherland, Elijah Vaughn, Preston Logan, Wyatt Logan and Clayton Logan; brother, Smokey Sutherland (Lydia) of Macon; special friends, Hollis Eastman (Tina), Isaiah Danielly, Leah`Ana Eastman, Rilee Eastman and Kaylani Danielly; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
