On Friday, February 26, at approximately 9 p.m., a deputy attempted to stop a blue Suzuki motorcycle for a speed violation of 97 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The driver, Jerry T. Wilkerson, of Swainsboro attempted to elude the deputy and then pursuit was then initiated. Units of the Georgia State Patrol joined the pursuit on Canoochee Road to Highway 192 and then onto Canoochee-Garfield Road. The operator dumped the bike at the intersection of Canoochee-Garfield Road and Wedding Camp Road and was arrested on scene by Georgia State Patrol. He is facing multiple charges.
