Mr. Nicky Lester Perkins, 68, of Swainsboro, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, following a brief illness. Graveside service was held Saturday, September 30, at 11 a.m. at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Reverend John Strick-land and Reverend Jim Harrell officiating. The family received friends Friday, September 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Nicholas Perkins, Matthew Perkins, Hunter Smith, Holden Vause, Barry Thompson and Jarrett Thompson.

Nicky was born August 24, 1955, in Swainsboro, the youngest of two sons to the late Johnny Perkins Sr. and Violet Perkins of Swainsboro. He was a 1973 Swainsboro High school gradu-ate, and also a Swainsboro Technical College graduate. Nicky had a 30 plus year career in the Timber Industry, including management positions at Rayonier and Collum Lumber. He then went on to start his own successful business as Owner/Operator of East Georgia Forest Products for many years until retirement. Nicky’s family and his faith were the two most im-portant things in his life, and his granddaughters were his greatest love during his time here with us. Mr. Perkins is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Ava Grace Perkins; and brother, Johnny Perkins, Jr.

Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vicki Perkins of Swainsboro; son, Nicholas Perkins (Keila) of Swainsboro; daughter, Audrey Perkins of Swainsboro; granddaughters, Sa-rah Jo Perkins, Madison Perkins and Bailey Duckworth; sister-in-law, Gloria Perkins of Wat-kinsville.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
