The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Franklin Memorial Library Monday morning, September 14, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 46 in attendance. Librarian Shari Watt and Veteran Kelley Warren provided the outstanding breakfast consisting of biscuits and gravy and jelly, scrambled eggs and sausage links, apple spice cake and with all the trimmings. Shari also provided the orange juice, grape juice, cranberry juice, apple juice, and coffee. Chair Johnny talked about the 30-gun drawing and the 13 winners they had during the month of September. He also talked to the Veterans about the upcoming New Veterans Wall that is being constructed at the Veterans and 1st Responders Memorial Park later this year to be completed by November 7. You can obtain a form at the library for your veteran's information to be placed on the wall.

The program was a Facetime interview with Amber Nagle, a free-lance writer with the Georgia Magazine published by the Electric Membership Corporation. She asked the veterans questions about their Veterans at the Library group and what they do for our community. Nagle is doing an article about Veterans at the Library in the Georgia Magazine's November issue.

Veterans then heard about Veteran Terry Reynolds upcoming Wounded Warriors Retreat 15th Annual Sportsman's Banquet and Auction that is being held on October 8, at 5 p.m. at Beaver Creek Plantation. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased by calling Terry Reynolds at 478-494-3758, Richard Driggers at 912-290-1108 or Nick Kraus at 912-687-6781.
