Some of us are lucky if we make it to 70 years old. In this day and time, there are very few people who make it to the golden age of 100 years old. On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Mrs. Hazel Boyd became one of those.
Miss Hazel grew up in Marianna, FL. After graduating high school, her family moved to Hendersonville, NC, where she met her husband, Kirk. After moving a few more times, Mrs. Hazel and Kirk found comfort in Moultrie, where she spent most of her life.
Mrs. Hazel met her husband in 1948 and holds that as her favorite memory of all. Throughout their years together, they traveled to six continents and saw every ocean. Of all these places, Australia and New Zealand were her most favorite destinations. “The people like Americans, unlike the rest of the world. I love the animals and the growth, everything was pretty.” Mrs. Hazel commented. Throughout Mrs. Hazel’s 100 years on Earth, she has visited places some of us can only dream of and made memories unlike any other.
She has a close relationship with her niece and nephew, Linda Watson and Craig Griner, and they took her to Mexico Beach to soak up the sun and enjoy the salt water for her 100th birthday.
“She’s amazing! If you say something about going anywhere, she is always ready.” stated Watson. “We couldn’t get her down to the water, but I filled up a water bottle and poured it on her feet.” stated Griner.
Mrs. Hazel has been in Swainsboro for less than a year, and loves being closer to family and getting to spend time with her favorite people. Life is full of joy, and Mrs. Hazel is a prime example of what joy and laughter are.
Mrs. Hazel’s one message to people is, “Travel more, and eat your vegetables.”
