Morgan selected for Elite Showcase

Posted

LJ Morgan is an upcoming sophomore at Swainsboro High School. LJ has had an impressive summer playing AAU basketball with the Peach State Hoyas. His play this summer has helped him establish himself as one of the top underclass players in the state. LJ was recently selected to participate in the Elite 60 Basketball Showcase. This showcase highlights the top players in their class from across the state and country. LJ participates in football and basketball at SHS. As a 9th grader, he was on the team that played in the state football championship game. He was also an integral part of the basketball team that made it to the final four of the state tournament. The early success has given LJ confidence but not complacency; he is still hungry. LJ recently shared this information with us:

“I’ve been playing sports for 12 years. Competing with some of the top players in the country has strengthened my weakness and made me more comfortable playing against other good players. It impacts me at SHS because I feel that I’ve already played against talented players, so I feel that I am just as talented at my high school. My goals for my sophomore season are to win two championships and be more consistent as a player. I stay motivated because I tell myself I haven’t won anything to prove my true success.”

Congratulation, LJ, on your accomplishments. Continued success this summer and the next three years as a Swainsboro Tiger.

“The ELITE60 SHOWCASE hosts some of the nation’s top middle school, freshman, and sophomore athletes. This event allows prospects to test and showcase their talents in front of national media, scouts, and college coaches.”
