Moore’s clutch hitting propels Varsity Lady Eagles to victory over Portal Panthers

Evie Moore drove in four runs on one hit to lead David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles past Portal Panthers 14-1 on Wednesday, August 12 at David Emanuel Academy. Moore hit a home run to left field in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, and hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning, scoring one.

David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles won thanks in part to eight runs in the fourth inning. Sophie Young tripled, scoring one run, Rayleigh Faircloth drew a walk, scoring one run, Kate Yeomans doubled, scoring one run, Lexie Starley singled, scoring one run, and Moore homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Varsity Lady Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kaley Flowers was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and an error scored two runs.

The Lady Eagles added one run in the second after Portal Panthers committed an error.

The Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Starley singled to center field, and Moore hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Sydney Lively earned the win for David Emanuel Academy. The righty gave up zero hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking four. A Lanier took the loss for Portal Panthers. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering 14 runs (10 earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking six.

Starley led DEA with two hits in three at bats. Lively led the Lady Eagles with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Flowers stole two bases. David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles stole six bases in the game.
