Miss Ellis, Mr. McElveen to wed in Augusta

Frank Ellis and Wayne and Gail Greenway of Swainsboro are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Miss Laura Margaret Ellis, to Mr. Steven George McElveen, Junior. He is the son of Steve and Beverly McElveen of Lincolnton.

The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Swainsboro High School and a 2011 graduate of East Georgia College. She continued her education at the University of Georgia, where she obtained bachelor's degrees in both athletic training and exercise and sports science in 2014. Miss Ellis graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Augusta University in 2016. She is currently a trauma nurse lead in the emergency room at Doctors Hospital of Augusta. She is also enrolled in Augusta University’s Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, where she is studying for her Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Miss Ellis is the granddaughter of June Hooks of Swainsboro, the late Wendel Hooks, and the late George and Donna Ellis.

The future groom is a 2008 graduate from Aquinas High School. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, minoring in Spanish, from Georgia College and State University in 2013. He continued his education at GCSU, graduating with a Master of Business Administration in 2014. He is currently employed by Columbia County.

Mr. McElveen is the grandson of Hazel McElveen of Lincolnton, the late George McElveen, and the late Billy Ray and Louise Fulmer.

The couple will wed on March 7, 2020 at the Old Medical College in Augusta. Formal invitations will be sent.
