Milton sentenced for death of 31-year-old Swainsboro resident

Peggy Ann Milton, 34-year-old Twin City resident, appeared before the Honorable Judge Robert S. Reeves in Emanuel County Superior Court for a first appearance hearing on Mon-day, July 11, 2022, in the fatal shooting of Nicholas Jovantay Hall, 31, of Swainsboro. The shooting took place on Saturday, July 9, 2022, on Stokes Avenue in Twin City. Milton was arrested at the scene and transported to the Emanuel County Jail for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. She was indicted in January 2023 for malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of firearm during the commis-sion of a felony.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Milton appeared before the Honorable Judge Robert S. Reeves for her sentencing. Jurors found Milton not guilty on one count malice murder; guilty on one count felony murder and received life with parole; guilty on one count aggravated assault merged with felony murder; and guilty on one count possession of firearm during the com-mission of a felony and received five years probation.
