The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Library Monday morning, November 10, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding they had 55 in attendance. The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro provided a fantastic breakfast consisting of eggs, grits, biscuits with sausage gravy, donuts, pastries, banana's, blueberry jelly and local honey. Shari Watt provided the orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. The new veteran on the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps is Veteran and Marine Jonathan Pedrazo. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 2AA Battalion during the Global War on Terrorism at 29 Palms, CA and Camp Lejeune, NC. Pedrazo’s highest rank was SGT.

Chair Johnny then introduced the Veterans of Millen who were met at the Veterans program last Friday at ECI. The Millen Veterans group is very active in helping homeless veterans in Millen, Sylvania and Twin City find benefits that will help them in many ways and help veterans get transportation to the VA and provide care packages for them.

The Veterans at the Library and the Millen Veterans are combining forces to help homeless veterans find the help that they need. Swainsboro High School, Swainsboro Elementary School and Emanuel County Institute painted Eagles that were provided by the Franklin Memorial Library Director Windy Ward and presented them to the Veterans at the Library for Veterans Day.
