Middle School baseball loses two to Metter

The ECI C-Team had two region games last week against the Tigers in a two-game home and away contest. The Bulldogs lost both games against Metter. ECI lost the home game on March 18, 16-4. The Tigers completed the sweep in Metter two days later by a score of 8-4. The bats were quiet for the Bulldogs in the 16-4 loss. TJ Weaver with a double, William Kennedy and Jacob Hughes with a HR had the hits for ECI. The Metter batters were teeing off on Bulldog pitching with 17 hits. Judson Underwood started the game going four innings, striking out six, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits. Hane Henry pitched the fifth inning allowing just two hits and no runs. JR Rehberg closed the game in the sixth allowing six runs on five hits.

Jacob Hughes started the game on Thursday throwing a strong five 1/3 innings giving up just one ER, scattering seven hits while striking out five. Henry relieved Hughes, pitching 2/3 of an inning with no hits for earned runs. Leading hitters for the Bulldogs were Hughes 3-4 with two RBI, William Kennedy 2-3 and Jack Lee 2-4 with a double.

The Bulldogs have three games on tap this week. They have home and away region games on Monday and Wednesday against Jenkins Co. with a non-region game stuck in the middle on Tuesday in Portal.
