SHS PROM KING/QUEEN
On April 15, SHS held its annual prom. The theme was “Forever in the Twilight”. The students in attendance voted for Wade Ellington as Prom King and for Buckley Screws as Prom Queen.
SWAINSBORO HIGH DUCK TAPE PROM MAKES WAVES AT CNN
On Saturday, May 14, Dabney Edenfield, Visual Art Instructor, and Theresa Davis, CTI Coordinator, escorted 14 SHS students to CNN in Atlanta. The students had the opportunity to be interviewed on the air by Don Lemon, weekend anchorman for CNN news, about the Duck Tape Prom and their Duck brand duct tape prom designs. The students were met by Lisa Schwan, the representative for Duck Tape, who flew in from Cincinnati, OH, to congratulate the students on their efforts and upcoming interview. Schwan brought Edenfield a special roll of LSU designed Duck Tape to be given to anchor Don Lemon, an LSU graduate. Caitlan Coleman presented Don Lemon with this special LSU roll on set. Edenfield surprised Lisa Schwan with a CD by Sam’s Drive-In with the “Duck Tape Song” that was written for the students and community. Edenfield stated that “this was a once in a lifetime experience for the students that were selected to be interviewed by Don Lemon on the CNN weekend news”.
