Navy Ens. Lin H. Thompson, Jr., son of Mr. & Mrs. L.H. Thompson of Swainsboro, was graduated on March 3, from the Naval Officer Candidate School at the Naval Base, Newport, R.I.
Funds approved for city’s future development plans
Swainsboro is one of five Georgia communities that received federal funds in preparation of comprehensive plans for growth development, according to announcements last Friday by Congressman Elliott Hagan and Senator Herman Talmadge. The Urban Renewal Administration approved a $16,630 grant to the Georgia Department of Commerce to be used in aiding Swainsboro, Hazlehurst, Hinesville, Homerville, and Lavonia for their local planning programs.
