In festival play
Patsy Edenfield as “Mrs. Crane” and John Price as “John J. Pressley” in “Ladies of the Jury”, a play that was presented May 3, 4, and 5 as part of the 16th Annual Pine Tree Festival. Some 28 members of the speech classes of Swainsboro High participated in the play, under the direction of Mrs. M.J. Reid.



Royalty contest
Among the highlights of the events scheduled during the 16th annual Pine Tree Festival was the “Parade of Characters Out of the Past”, that was presented on Monday, May 1, by seniors of Swainsboro High School. Among the characters represented were Sonny Coleman as Al Smith, Llewelyn Avery as Florence Nightingale, Clara Jane Flanders as Belle Boyd, Sylvia Hooks as Pocahontas, Jimmy Paige as Wyatt Earp, Frances McLeod as Fusaye-Ishikawa, June Lovins as Susan Anthony, Marjorie Boyd as Clara Bow, and Patsy Hooks as Martha Washington. The parade was held downtown.
