McRae’s big day propels Varsity Lady Eagles past Varsity Jaguars

Emily McRae collected three hits in four at bats, as David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles defeated Thomas Jefferson Academy Varsity Jaguars 11-3 on Thursday, September 24. McRae tripled in the first inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Lady Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Rayleigh Faircloth singled, scoring one run, McRae tripled, scoring two runs, and Kate Yeomans grounded out, scoring one run.

Lady Eagles scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Aubrey Scott singled, scoring one run, Kaley Flowers singled, scoring one run, Faircloth doubled, scoring two runs, and McRae doubled, scoring one run. Faircloth earned the win for Lady Eagles, allowing six hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking none.

Reese Miller led things off in the circle for Varsity Jaguars. The hurler surrendered 15 hits and 11 runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking none.

Lady Eagles tallied 15 hits in the game. Scott and McRae each collected three hits, and Flowers, Bailey McNure, Faircloth and Payton Peebles each collected multiple hits. Lady Eagles stole four bases and turned one double play in the game.

Camryn Taylor, Miller, Caroline McNeely, Emma Newberry, Libby Anne Black and Chelsey Miller each collected one hit for Varsity Jaguars. McNeely and Miller were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run.
