McLeod-Moring Camp #1386 receives Brigade Appreciation Award

The McLeod-Moring Camp #1386 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans was recognized by the Georgia Division’s 6th Brigade during the Georgia SCV Annual Reunion on July 6, 2026, receiving honors for its service and support of local heritage preservation efforts.

The presentation was made by 6th Brigade Commander William Hagin. Camp Commander Daryl Hill accepted the award on behalf of the McLeod-Moring Camp. The camp was recognized for selfless dedication, personal sacrifice and service to the brigade.

According to published reports, the camp carried out several service projects during the year, including providing Christmas assistance to local families, placing flags at the graves of approximately 450 Confederate soldiers in Emanuel County during Confederate History Month, placing a soldier’s headstone for Private Benjamin Faircloth, cleaning cemeteries.

The 6th Brigade includes Wheeler, Montgomery, Jeff Davis, Toombs, Appling, Bacon, Tattnall, Emanuel, Treutlen, Long, Chatham, Bryan, Liberty, Evans and Effingham counties.

The McLeod-Moring Camp #1386 is based in Emanuel County and is part of the Georgia Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans. The organization identifies its work as focused on historical remembrance, genealogy and the preservation of burial sites and memorials connected to Confederate soldiers.
