McClendon joins Titans

Most little boys want to be a doctor, fireman, police officer or an athletic superstar when they grow up. For one neighboring young man, his dream came true. Twenty-three-year-old six-foot five-inch T.K. McClendon of Soperton was an outstanding defensive and tight end for the Treutlen County High School Vikings. Many folks from Twin City will remember T.K. because Treutlen County and ECI were rivals in football and basketball.

After graduating from TCHS in 2017, T.K. played football for a two-year college, Copiah Lincoln Community College, in Wesson, MS. In 2018 and 2019, he played for the LSU Tigers with LSU, winning the National Championship in 2019. Later, T.K. transferred to the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky as a defensive lineman. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky in December 2022, with a degree in communications.

In April 2023, T.K. received that long-awaited phone call to be a professional football player with the Tennessee Titans. His mother, Amanda McClendon, said he had offers from the Lions, Chiefs and Raiders before deciding to be a Titan.

T.K. went by Boneyard BBQ in Soperton last week for some fish and shrimp before heading to Nashville. Customers and employees had pictures taken with him and wished him well on his new career.
