Ms. May Helen Schmid, 84, of Swainsboro, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ms. Schmid was born May 3, 1936, in Midville, to the late Lintorn A. Brett and Gertrude Flanders. Ms. Schmid got a Master Degree’s in Adult Education and went on to the George Baptist Nursing Program. She then went and taught Nursing at Southeastern Technical College and worked at Emanuel Medical Center. Ms. Schmid loved her grandchildren, reading Christian especially in her Bible, and loved to share her Faith. She was a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church. Ms. Schmid is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Schmid; daughter, Esther Bristow; brother, Lintorn Brett; and sister, Ann Brett.
Survivors include her sons, Andrew Scott Schmid of New York and Stuart Watson (Lorraine) of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Erin Watson of Chicago, Glynis Watson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Colleen Watson of Durham, North Carolina, Jack Watson of Durham, North Carolina, Nicholas Dominquez, Clay Williams, and Bailey Bristow; one great-grandchild; brothers, Henry Brett (Janet) of Wadley, Bobby Brett (Betty Ann) and William Brett (Sandy) of Kite; and sister, Mary Gail Farrar.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
