Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Mary Ellen Johnson, age 76, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her residence after a brief illness. Graveside services were held Friday, January 8, at 11 a.m. in the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Price officiating.
Mrs. Johnson was born July 11, 1944 in Garfield, to the late Rufus Sr. and Bertie Mae Collins Thompson. She adored her sons, enjoyed spending time with family, coloring, puzzles, and cooking. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Garfield Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, B. L. Johnson; sister, Dorothy Thompson; brothers, Rufus Thompson Jr., Cecil Thompson, and Carl Edward Thompson.
Survivors include sons, Rex Johnson (Renee) of Swainsboro, Sheldon Johnson of Garfield and Jody
Johnson; sister, Annie Lou McCormick of Summerville; brothers, James Earl Thompson; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
