Marvin Worthen, age 69, entered into eternal peace on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Augusta University Medical Center. A Life and Legacy was held Saturday, February 17, at 3 p.m. at St. Philip Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James E. Love officiating and Minister Larry Sherrod presiding. Interment followed in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Marvin was born January 22, 1955, in Swainsboro, to the late Jim and Laura Worthen. He worked at Canady Supply Company, Wrightsville Lumber Company and El Roy Turpentine Steel until his retirement. Marvin loved to plant flowers and vegetables and always enjoyed working in his garden and definitely had a green thumb. Mr. Worthen is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola Marie Wise Worthen; son, Maurice Clark, grandson, Goug Clark, and eleven siblings.
Mr. Worthen leaves to cherish his memories with his daughters, Carnesia (James) Mack, Lillian (Ronald) Wilkerson, both of Statesboro, Tarinesia Rivers, Roberta (Michael) Murphy and Christie Clark, all of Swainsboro; brothers, Danny “Debo” Worthen, Dennis Mason and Jimmy Seabourough, all of Swainsboro; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
