On July 25, 2023, Tuesday night, Brier Creek Chapter member Bernard Martin of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution in Screven County, traveled to Thomson, to speak to the Thomson Guards, Camp 91. With 35 in attendance, Bernard presented his program on "The Bible and the Constitution". Bernard has been a member of the Brier Creek Chapter along with his 3 sons, Bernard II, Benjamin, and Joseph, for over three years. Besides preaching weekly on Facebook, Bernard has built himself a 6-pounder Field Cannon that he uses at the Sons of the American Revolution events around the State of Georgia. After Bernards presentation, Daughters of the American Revolution member Jeanie Joesby presented Bernard with the "DAR Excellence in Historic Preservation Award”. Congratulations Bernard. Also attending the meeting was SAR member Steve Burke of the Wiregrass Chapter in Swainsboro. Steve is a survivalist and presents revolutionary programs all over Georgia.
