Malaina Claire Nasworthy, 18, of Twin City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Jefferson Hospital. Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2022, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Brinson and Reverend Randy Carnley officiating. Interment followed in Coleman Cemetery in Twin City. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, October 30, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gabe Lee, Gavin Edenfield, Charlie Hadden, Brandon Hadden, Travis Chance, Drake Oglesby, and Dilan Oglesby. Honorary pallbearers included all of Malaina’s cowgirl friends.

Malaina Claire Nasworthy was born September 9, 2004, to Jeremy and Ashley Nasworthy. She attended Emanuel County Institute where she would have graduated with honors in 2023. She was known far and wide for barrel racing on her horse, Yogi Bear, and show jumping on her horses, Apache and Shady. Malaina always had a desire to rescue horses. She was an amazing artist and loved drawing and painting. Malaina recently placed first in the Emanuel Arts Council Art Block contest. She loved Halloween and dressing up in costumes. She was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Pete McKenzie; and her uncle, Allen Nasworthy.

Survivors include her parents, Jeremy and Ashley Nasworthy; brother, Landon Nasworthy; paternal grandparents, Chris and Pam Carr, Lyn Nasworthy and Reba Tankersley; maternal grandmother, Debra McKenzie; several other family members and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UGA Veterinary teaching hospital at 2200 College Station Rd, Athens, GA 30602.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
