Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mrs. Madelyne Roberson Whitfield, age 93, of Stillmore, on Friday, August 18, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services were Sunday, August 20, at 3 p.m. in the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Zac Case, Rev. Ken Land, and Rev. George Archer officiating. Interment followed in the Stillmore City Cemetery. The family received friends at Tomlinson Funeral Home Sunday, August 20, from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers were her grandsons and Jamey Jenkins.

Mrs. Whitfield was born in Stillmore to the late Jesse Carr and Alice Edenfield Roberson. She was a graduate of ECI. Mrs. Whitfield was a member of the Stillmore Missionary Baptist Church and the Stillmore Ladies Club. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. To Madelyne, her children and grandchildren were her life. She loved cooking, reading, and when she was able, she enjoyed traveling and cutting her grass. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitfield is preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Whitfield; brothers, Frank Roberson and Ray Roberson; and sister, Margaret Williams.

Survivors include her daughters, Teresa McLendon (Walker) of Stillmore and Bonnie Tomberlin (Tim) of Hawkinsville; son, Michael Whitfield (Deborah) of Cleveland; grandchildren, Kasie Hall (Kevin), Hope McLendon, Mallory McLendon, Josh Whitfield (Lauren), Dana Buchli (Sam), Jessica Land (Ken), Amelia Case (Zac), David Saunders and Whit Saunders (Laura); great-grandchildren, Sky Beasley, Alyse Beasley, Haley Hall, Tessa Hall, Harper Whitfield, Emery Whitfield, Maddy Land, Ella Rose Land, Annabelle Land, Carr Case, Ryan Case, Harrison Saunders and J.T. Saunders; step-grandchildren, Bond McLendon (Melissa), Michael McLendon (Christie) and Erica Hall (Doug); step-great-grandchildren, Matt McLendon, Kate McLendon, Helen McLendon (Nick Lewis), Vivian McLendon, Jessie McLendon, Thomas Herrington, Emma Herrington and Ebbin Herrington; sister-in-law, Jeanette Whitfield of Stillmore; and close family friend, Mary Frances Archer.
